An online friend of mine that I used to play NHL on the PC with, back in the day, messaged me to let me know he has got a PS3 now and would like to do another online league. I have informed him about the EASHL, but have been thinking lately about the possibility of us also having an online league.
Any thoughts/ideas on the matter?

Did Ea even make any changes to the online league from last year? Last year's was a gong show.
I hope there is changes. I know they implemented the Fantasy Draft, although when I play in online leagues I like to keep things authentic.
side note: I would draw names to determine the team selection order, because I know there is at least 3 of us that would want the Flames, and I believe 3 that would want the Canadiens. :)

I'd prefer it not to be a fantasy draft. But all those issues can be discussed and voted on later.

that is the list i have, so I will draw names out of a hat here to see the order for team selection.
By the way, I think this could be an excellent size for an online league. Enough players to make it interesting, but not too many that the league will suffer. Should be fun, although I will admit, I haven't even looked to see how the online league is setup in the game yet. That and league rules/settings will have to be considered here shortly.

once everyone comes on and selects their teams we will fire up the online league.

Sorry Ant, I was unable to switch teams. Once you are able to join we can try to negotiate a trade for Nash.
Anyone know if there is another roater update yet? I will remake the league, and this time take the caps so that ant can join (his DNF percent is too high) and he can have the BJs

as soon as you join you can start playing I believe. I think the others can join whenever, but they should do it as soon as possible. :)

I'll just throw this out there as something to consider, but perhaps we should try and have 1 or 2 regular "League nights" per week so that we can keep the schedule moving (i.e. Tuesday is League game night) and then the rest of the week is open for EASHL games.
It's something to consider and we'd have to see what night and timeframe (have to remember timezone differences as well) works for everybody.
Any thoughts?

well since usually people dont play till late and games take a while im really only able to play on fridays/saturdays or any day where i have a day off from school the next day :/

I think that there is a timezone issue at play as well, so we should probably figure out where everybody in the league is. So far I know that people are in the Eastern and Mountain zones.
The other option could be to use this forum to schedule games. We've had these leagues before and if we don't get a system worked out early on, everybody tends to disappear and it either never takes off or it doesn't get completed.

Not sure if I'm ready to trade lapierre yet...I'll think about it, but I do listen to offers.
As a side note, perhaps we create a sub forum for scheduling and trades. I know that we can offer trades, but it would be nice to have a spot where we could negotiate for them as well.

How many people still need to join the league before we can start our games?
I am pretty sure that we can start playing them now. I believe that more can join as the season progresses. I know dungeondoug is going to join which gives us 9. That might be it for members anyways.

Not sure if I like that trade straight up dso, I'd be down-grading my goaltending, there would have to be other players involved.

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been around at all lately. I should be around quite a bit more because sadly my college is going on strike for a few weeks. Anyways, I was just wondering if I was able to rejoin the league? I thought I was in it, but it turns out that I'm not anymore. I don't care which team I have either, but are there any that are for someone else?
Patrick are you going to be able to play 36 regular season games? You have to play each of the league members 4 times. If you think there will be no problem with that, then yes I will certainly send you a new invite.

I will be able to get all those games in. It looks like I'm going to have a bit of time off from school next week, so I should be on a lot.
I just got a message from dso that says we need to restart the league b/c the 10 min periods are just way too long. I told him that that is the first complaint I've heard, so I just want to check with everyone else and see what they think about the period length. Unfortunately it can only be 5, 10, or 20 min periods. So do we want to restart with shorter periods?

im 0-0-1 so sure!! Actually I think if the periods were shorter we could possibly get a couple more games in in a night. Typically Im going to play club first, but if I can get an online game in and then some club games, I would have some more games in by now. So I would be fine with restarting, but would not want to disrupt the league if its a problem.

i just feel that a half hour per league game makes it too long down the road. not to mention there has been another update which i think is good for all teams. since we're already having problems getting league games in anyway i think it makes sense. as for me, not to sound babyish, lol. i won't play in a 10 min league, it's just to long for me. if everyone agrees with having the ten minute periods, go for it. have fun and enjoy it. it's just not for me.

I would for sure rather 5 minute periods. It just takes too long to get one game in, and it's a lot easier to find 20 minutes to play a game, than 40.

If we need to reset the league that's fine...how about a comprimise though? 6 or 7 min periods? Just a suggestion.
I'd also like to bring up a suggestion I made earlier about having a league night...just pick one day where we focus on the league games so that they don't sit there and not get played.
Labone, that's the problem I mentioned in my previous post, you don't have the option of picking a happy medium. It's 5, 10, or 20 min periods.
As for the league night, I think it's just too difficult for all of us to commit to a specific night. If there are a few of you that would like to go that route, give'r.
I thought for the most part we were doing well at getting games in. Many of us had a good handful of games in, but some (blkhwk!) were still shitting the bed a little. :D
Maybe we should shorten the periods to 5 min, and make it so that we play everyone twice instead of 4 times?

I'm with you Cody, was in Atlanta the past two days, Hawks game last night and going on a two day vacation with the wife thus weekend downtown. I may be able to jump on tonight a bit and then again on Sunday. (Dallas next week, Toronto the week after)

dso, if you're ok with it I will put you in charge of the online league stuff. Whatever you decided or as a group decide I am fine with. I for one would like a change in teams. If we want to completely redraft or do a first come first serve sort of thing, either way doesn't matter. Or those who want to keep their fav teams have that option, that's fine too. Whatever you guys all decide I am on board with.

Anyways, my ENTIRE team minus Fleury is on the trade block. :D
I'm really looking at moving Geurin and Staal, and would like a top end RWer in return. Also I would be willing to part with Crosby or Malkin, but it would have to include a top end LWer and RWer. I would also packaga Geurin in that deal.

I played some really great league games last night. I first played BCC and managed to pull off an OT victory, then had a great battle with blkhwk and took a shoot out win out of that contest. BCC then solved me and handled me 3-1 to give me my first loss.
I'm not going to kid myself, the Malkin-Crosby combo on the top line is deadly!
