So with Sergei Kostitsyn playing uninspired hockey at training camp, missing team buses and being late for practices, he has asked for a trade from the Montreal Canadiens. The team sent him to Hamilton to work on his game... (along with work ethic and attitude) and instead of embracing the situation of top line minutes in steeltown, he completely drops the ball and shows more reason why Habs management was right in sending him down.

wow what a punk... ill bet we trade him to toronto and he plays on a line with grabovski and resents us as much as he does hopefully this doesnt effect andrei's play we need him :/ (im guessing hes going either to toronto or to the islanders) if we got some draft picks from the islanders that would be sweet lol plus we would free up some cap space which is always nice :) then again i think were paying him garbage i dunno :/ ok now i think hes going either to toronto, NYI, or tampa in a huge deal for lecavalier :D

k i cant edit that link post soo nvm i found it and boo if he plays in the khl
trade him for a defensmen. Donald S. Cherry believes Markov will be gone the entire season. And now with O'Byrne down as well, the blueline is looking depleted.

markov is only gone for about 5 months, he'll be back after the olympic break.
I don't care if he's back before Christmas, Montreal has some problems on the blueline, right now.

yeah, but we'll be alright. martin is a coach that can compensate for such problems. now if carbo was still coach... then this would be a hugh issue.

dso, i don't agree with you man. markov may be back after the Olympic break, but that's like 5 weeks of hockey then, the habs gotta be in the run when he get's back. And without him I can't see them being. They may have a pretty damn good coach, but I think people forget how important a puck moving d-man is to a team. I think Markov was already the only d-man back from last year, well they lost 5 that played with them at least. They are going with a completely different core, so you better hope spacek magically turns into bobby orr.

Spacek???!! What a waste of a roster spot!! I was sick to my stomach everytime he took the ice as a Blackhawk - There should be a stat for "Stupid out Pass" as he would lead the league in that!! I would referance Hamrlik or Mara first. To lose a quaterback on the blueline is big, and if the habs are unable to fill that role, then it will come down to the coaches ability to establish a system that would allow the forwards to play more of a defensive role in their own end.

hahah, I just used the first name that came to mind. But without a move it's pretty much spacek and hamrlik who will need to step up as the offensive d-men for the habs. No way in hell Mara or Gill are offensive d-men. They were brought in to play defence, and although they may look shaky at times, they are good at that, so their roles shouldn't be forced into changing.

Forwards that will NOT play defence = Cammalleri. At least he didn't at all under Keenan. Whether that was Coach or Player, I don't know.

Josh gorges will take a bigger role. yannick weber will be moving the puck for markov. then you still have hamrlik who is a solid dman still. then spacek, mara who is solid, gill in limited use... pk subban will see some time along with mathieu carle. montreal actually has some decent depth that non-habs fans don't know about. shawn belle could come in and fill some size and steady play, alex henry who has some experience and stay at home play. thats ten guys not to mention david fischer and alexei yemelin who should be coming over soon. thats some pretty solid depth if you ask me.
