View Full Version : Flames/Hawks Trade
Flames have traded forward Kyle Greentree to the Hawks for defencemen Aaron Johnson.
I just heard on the Fan960 (so it's official) but I can't find any link to the story.
From a Flames perspective, I am a little shocked. I really liked the upside that we saw from Greentree last season when he was called up. He also have very impressive numbers in Quad City, and I was looking forward to seeing him develop in the Flames system and someday be a regular in the Flames lineup. I understand he was quite a disappointment in Flames training camp, but I wonder if "one strike and you're out" is a little quick to jump the gun. There most be more to it then just one bad training camp.
Furthermore, I am shocked to see the Flames add another dman. I think they already had plenty of depth, even if Sarich is out for an extended length of time. Pardy and Kronwall have been an excellent 3rd pairing, and Pelech and Negrin on the Farm provided added depth. Also, if depth on the blueline was a concern, then why would Sutter trade Stralman (who had a very impressive preseason) away for a draft pick?
I am curious to see if there is more to this then what I have just heard.

I am shocked as well - this is the first I heard of this ....Johnson is a tough kid and did help us out quite a bit down the stretch last year.
