Default Problems with my Boost Gear

for pretty much the last 3 weeks or so I have been using boost gear that hasn't been working. With the boosts equipped my players is 81 overall, but lately I have been 77 overall. I think what has caused this is I bought the boosts before I earned my first online hockey card. So when I earned my first card I tried to upgrade my attributes (which doesn't matter with the boost gear anyways) and I think there's a glitch that it overrides the boost attributes.

I could not figure out how to get my boosts back and I didnt want to change my gear because it showed all the stuff that I had bought as locked again. So I was afraid I'd have to buy everything again.

Finally, and I am not sure exactly at what point I fixed it but.... I changed all my gear to normal default gear in the game. Then I restarted the game. I went back into the hockey shop and my boost gear was back and the boosts I had also purchased were back. So I re=equipped my boosts and I am back to 81 overall.

So I just wanted to let you guys know this in case your players are affected as well.

It sucks because I had been playing without my boosts for about 50 games.

Hey Cody,

There was a glitch that had players with higher attribute scores then they were supposed to have. This was fixed in the last patch.

In addition, the boost packs actually limit your player attributes. Your earned attribute points don't increase the stats that you have "boosted" with the pack (as an example...say you have 80 for your speed stat and the boost pack takes it to 85, then you level up and through 5 pts into speed, it will not increase from the 85 it will just replace some of the boost points).

I have dropped the boost pack in favour of regular gear earned attribute points and individual boosts that I have earned. I forget what card I'm on...but I have all the requirements for the next level except for overall grade. I need to move my guy from a B- to a B+. Once I have those extra points my players overall ranking will be higher than what I could achieve with a boost pack...and I won't have to wear gold equipment anymore!!

The other thing I discovered and suggest that other people may want to try is redistributing you points. If you change your player type your player goes back to "stock stats" and you get to reallocate all of the points you have earned. This allowed me to redo my player with points in categories that take advantage of the way I play.

Here is the high level of what I did: I changed my player from a pwr fwd to a dangler, then back to pwr fwd. I then focus points on passing, speed, deflections, checking and wrist shot accuracy. This allows to work off the side boards for passing or stand in front of the net for deflections and garbage goals when I don't have the puck.

I've only played a few games since I made these changes, but I like the results so far.

Oh the other thing that I read is that I believe EA stated somewhere that BAP players will only be able to achieve mid 80s for their overall rankings...I only saw that referenced in a a forum so I can't confirm it.

Boost Packs vs Individual equipment unlocks and boost slots.

Boost packs are a great way to start off with to have a +80 player right off the bat, but after the allstar card it is worthwhile to have the individual slots filled with the 12 different boosts. All of this equipment and boosts are transferable to up to 5 different users. So technically you could have 5 users with all the same ratings, but all different builds and positions once you have copied your cards. This way if you play sometimes as a playmaker center, sometimes as a sniping winger, and sometimes as a defenseman you could make a user for each, and would each have the same rating. Your boosts slots and equipment purchased will work on all users on your PS3 regardless wether you copy your card. I have not bothered to copy my card yet because I have not gotten my legend card.

So I have include some articles that will explain some things about finding the right build of player for you.

Also I included the link so you can copy your card from one user account to the other or if your PS3 turds on you, and you need to transfer your card and attributes.

Ya, I'm going to have to play around with it some more. I was thinking that I wouldn't be able to gain enough attribute pts through cards to make my boost pack obsolete. For example, my helmet with 3 acceleration boosts gives me an acceleration rating of 96. No way am I going to be able to get that kind of rating through cards, and this gives me the benefit of using card attributes in other categories (agility).

Anyways, I am certainly going to play around with this more. I just really wish EA had a different way of going with these retarded boosts. The goalie gear is cool, but the skaters with all this crap just look ridiculous.

O.K. now Im getting a bit confused - I have a superstar card and need to get my player up to A status to get a legend card. Right now I also bought the boost pack with gold skates and stick - I also have the spider helmet. When I recieved my new card I was able to upgrade my players attributes. Can I get more attributes by getting rid of the boost pack and just adding my boost cards?? my player rating is 82 at PF.

Not without getting both a bunch of equipment to open the slots for the boosts, then purchasing or unlocking the boosts so right now your helmet works with your boost pack, but your attribute points from earning a new card doesn't work in conjunction. So if you do want to take full advantage of the allstar or legend card you would have to take off the boost pack. Then equip yourself, upgrading stick, gloves, skates with the three additional boost slots in each(make sure if your buying get the 3 slot equipment) then fill the 12 boost slots(try to use the +5). I myself got all the spider equipment and then I got a bunch of +5 boosts and some of the +3 boosts I unlocked. The gold equipment is a cheap way of upgrading till you get your legend or all star. Speed, wrist shot power are some slots that you may want to use the +5 boost and a +3 boost to give you a total of +8. Just use the player creator to figure out what attributes are important to you. One other thing switch to the 13" skate blades to gain a bit on speed.

well I for some reason thought I had my all star card, but I am still 20 games away, I think. Before I realized this I dropped the boost pack (thank god) and geared up in the new Kane 88 equipment. As much as I hate Kane, I like the fact that my player is going to actually resemble a hockey player and now a comic book character. I am especially pleased I will no longer have a golden helmet with a black visor!!!

After playing with boosts and attributes, my player is 80 overall, highlighted by great speed, acceleration, balance (we'll see how much this helps), wrist shot power, wrist shot accuracy, and deflections.

I decided to use some +3 boosts in some areas instead of more +5's in order to target specific skills that I feel are most valuable. I think once I get my all star card, I can add three attribute points to those skills and then use a +5 else where to gain an ever better advantage. That's my plan anyhow.

I've very pleased that I have asked about this and have experimented with the gear. I can't wait to test drive the new and improved 'Karpo'!

I just changed it the other day, so I think in order for me to hold up my end of the bargain I have a ways to go yet.
